I love you
I saw her walking out of the school and decided that this was it. I ran up to her and grabbed her arm lightly, pulling her off to the side. She jumped and turned around, putting her hand on her heart.
“Jaxon, jeez you scared me. What’s up?” She asked.
“I need to tell you something. I know that this may seem sudden, but i’ve been feeling like this for as long as I can remember. Wow, this is a lot harder than i’d expected.” I laughed nervously, rubbing the back of my neck.
“Okay, out with it. What’s going on?” She gave me this look and then everything seemed fine, as if with that look I knew that everything would work out. I stared at her for a moment knowing fondness was falling out of my eyes like a waterfall, and then said what has been on my mind for a long time.
“I love you, Nova. I have loved you for a really long time, and I know that you just broke up with Adam and I know my timing couldn’t be any worse, but I just had to tell you. I love you. I love the way you blush when someone compliments you. I love the way you laugh with your whole body and the way your smile is crooked, but perfect in every which way. I love the way your eyes shine so bright when you talk about your dogs or when you talk about something you care about. I love how you get so invested in movies that you cry as if the tragedy happened to you. I love how you listen to love songs and smile, saying that one day you’ll fall in love and all the love songs in the world would make sense.”
I took a deep breath and decided to continue.
“I love the way you curl up next to me on the days when it gets so cold. I love the way your sweaters are too big on you so they hang on your shoulders giving you sweater paws. I love how caring you are. I love how brave you are when it comes to your family. I just love you. And i’m sorry that my timing is so bad and i’m sorry if this isn’t something you wanted to hear, but I just can’t hold it in anymore.”
Looking down I waited for a response, but it never came. I worked up all the courage I had left and looked up at her. There was an expression on her face i’d never seen before. I couldn’t tell if she was upset or happy so I just waited for what seemed an eternity, when in reality was only a couple seconds. I was about to speak again when she began talking.
